INTRODUCTION OF NOX SURCHARGE AS FROM 1ST MARCH 2007

The Norwegian Government has from January 1st. 2007, introduced a NOX emission surcharge on fossil fuels used by all vessels, trading within Norwegian controlled waters.

We have delayed introducing the surcharge, and the reason is that we have tried to avoid implementation. However, the Norwegian Government has not been willing to withdraw this surcharge, regardless of our joint efforts with other operators within the Maritime sector.

The NOX Emission surcharge will represent a considerable cost increase on the liner services operated to and from Norwegian ports. Therefore, we have no alternative but to introduce a surcharge, at an initial level of 2%, to partly recover this cost.

Freight bookings made on our passenger service will also be charged at the same level.
